Local Boy Scout Works Toward Merit Badge by Interviewing Firestone Mayor

Isaiah Curtis had a list of questions to ask Firestone Mayor Chad Auer on Oct. 26 2011, and most them were regarding the water issues within the community. Curtis, a Boy Scout with Troop 262, is working on finishing the final steps to earn his merit badge, which included meeting with an elected official to talk about a community issue.

Auer said, “Water is an important issue throughout Firestone, and the N.I.S.P. (Northern Integrated Supply Project) project is vital to our community.”

Curtis further asked Auer on how young people can get involved in community projects, such as the water issues. “First of all, educate yourself about the water issues in our community,” Auer said. “Our state representatives would love to hear from a young person regarding the water issue.”
