Firestone Celebrates Community Garden Ribbon Cutting
The Firestone Community Garden was celebrated on May 22, 2010 with a ribbon cutting ceremony. Firestone Trustee and Parks Commissioner Paul Sorensen led the ribbon cutting ceremony with assistance from Ryan Quam, manager of the Firestone Home Depot. Home Depot was a major sponsor of the garden by providing most of the materials necessary for its construction.
Sorensen awarded Quam with a plaque for Home Depot's generous contribution to the project and its great community sprit.
The project is located on Town property just north of the Firestone Town Hall and offers annual vegetable or flower plots to interested Firestone residents. A minimal annual cost is charged to cover the cost of water and administration of the project. Certain plots are elevated with wood timbers to make gardening more convenient for seniors.
Residents interested in occuping a community garden spot should contact Town Hall at 303-833-3291.
