Tri-Town Area Joins for 1st Annual Carbon Valley Holiday Festival

A soft blanket of snow set the scene for the 1st annual Carbon Valley Holiday Festival on Dec. 3, 2011 in Firestone, Dacono and Frederick. The three communities joined efforts this year to create a day-long list of activities that residents and visitors enjoyed.

More than 1,500 people came out to the Firestone events, which kicked off the day. At Santa's Workshop at Coal Ridge Middle School, kids embraced their creativity and made ornaments and crafts to take with them or give as gifts. Across the street at Cimarron Garden Center and Nursery, Santa and Mrs. Claus visited with kids throughout the afternoon. Live reindeer and pony rides added to the fun.

As the sun set, Dacono started the evening festivities with a tree lighting at the intersection of Highway 52 and Colorado Boulevard. Hot cocoa warmed the guests as they enjoyed the new landscaping and festive lights that decorated the area for the season.

Frederick wrapped up the day with its 7th Annual Festival of Lights at Crist Park. Attendees enjoyed horse-drawn carriage rides, ice carving demonstrations, musical performances, hot cocoa, Santa and hundreds of lights.
