Firestone, SAFEbuilt Presents 2012 Scholarships
Four local high school seniors were awarded scholarships at the May 9, 2012, Firestone Board of Trustees meeting for their academic excellence, demonstrated outstanding public service and plan to further their education.
Firestone Trustees Bobbi Sindelar and George Heath served as the scholarship committee to select the winners from many exceptional students. The Town awarded three of the scholarships, and local building inspection company SAFEbuilt presented the fourth scholarship.
Excellence in Academics Scholarship winners included Amy Smith and Natalie Belle Curtis. Smith plans to attend Colorado State University to major in Human Development and Family Studies. Curtis will continue her ongoing studies at Front Range Community College to study music.
The Career Advancement Scholarship was awarded to Barbara Parker, who will be attending Colorado State University-Pueblo to study nursing.
SAFEbuilt President Mike McCurdie awarded Brett Sorensen the SAFEbuilt Academic Excellence Scholarship. Sorensen plans to attend Colorado State University to study engineering.
