Ribbon Cutting at Onorato Park Opens New Phase of Improvements

The Firestone Parks, Trails and Recreation Advisory Board held a ribbon cutting on July 9, 2012, to officially mark the opening of the recent phase of improvements at Onorato Park in Old Town Firestone. Onorato family members were present for the dedication.

Firestone Trustee Paul Sorensen said, “The Parks Trails and Recreation Board and the Firestone Town Board planned and built a beautiful addition to Onorato Park. I am so impressed with the quality of the new tennis court and the matching resurfacing of the basketball court that I encourage all residents to stop by and see this beautiful addition to our parks.”

Construction started in mid-April on a new tennis court for the park. Also included in the improvements was a resurface to the basketball court, new sidewalks, a drinking fountain and landscape additions.

Onorato Park is Firestone’s oldest park located within the heart of Old Town. The Parks, Trails and Recreation Advisory Board will be reviewing the master plan for Onorato Park for any future improvements and will make recommendations to the Board of Trustees for its budget process.
