Community resources involves the coordination of various events and activities such as the 4th at Firestone, the Honey Festival, Movies in the park and other community and Town activities.

The Town of Firestone sponsors events periodically throughout the year. The 4th at Firestone is the Town's signature event. Please check back periodically to view event posters, programs, sponsorship recognition programs.

Adopt-A-Place Overview

The Adopt-A Place Program started in 2005 when the Town of Firestone to the initiative to combat litter problems in the community. Firestone community groups and businesses have taken the lead in adopting select locations in Firestone. Historic Society

The Firestone Historic Committee was assembled in response to the need to identify historic information and sites and to compile and maintain historic archives and artifacts for Firestone’s Centennial in 2008. A video history project is in the planning stages and will be based upon compiled questionnaires highlighting personal experiences and stories from longtime Firestone residents.

Scholarships

The Firestone scholarship program began in 2005 and we have had the honor of partnering with area students for academic excellence and continuing professional achievement.
Any student who maintains their residency in Firestone is eligible to apply. Applicants are expected to have actively participated in extracurricular and community service related projects in Firestone and the Carbon Valley area. Firestone’s goal is to assist students that have set goals for themselves and have already shown exceptional capability in achieving them.

Scholarship Awards will be used for tuition expenses at the winners’ school of choice, usually a four year college or trade school. Candidates have been awarded for 2009. Please look for new opportunities in the spring of 2010.

Community Grant Program

The Town of Firestone has supported beautification and overall improvement projects proposed by Home Owners Associations. Due to current economic conditions, the 2010 Community Grant program has been placed on hold until further notice. HOA’s that were awarded in 2009 with open agreements will be reimbursed in 2010 by the deadline indicated in their contract and upon project completion, inspection, and with proof of invoices.

Volunteering

Firestone community resources has many special events and beneficial projects related to community development that volunteers may be involved with. Please fill out an application form and waiver and indicate what you are interested in helping out with.
