The Building Department processes building permits pursuant to the codes adopted by the Town which includes:

-National Electrical Code, 2011 Edition

The building department also processes building permits for fence, sign permits and revocable sign permits.

2 completed sets of drawings stamped by a Colorado licensed architect or Colorado registered engineer.

All commercial projects require fire department approval. Please contact the Frederick-Firestone Fire Protection District department for requirements.

Building Permit Fees

Contractors Application - Per Firestone Municipal Code 5.20, it is unlawful for any contractor, subcontractor or tradesman to perform any work within the Town of Firestone without first obtaining a contractor’s license and providing the necessary insurance listing the Town of Firestone as additional insured.

General Building Permit Application - A building permit is required for any persons, authorized agent or business wishing to construct, enlarge, alter, repair, move, demolish or change the occupancy of a building or structure. A building permit is also required to erect, install, enlarge, alter, repair, remove, convert or replace any electrical, gas, mechanical or plumbing system or cause any such work to be done. This is not intended to be a complete list. Fence Permit Application - Any persons, authorized agent or business wishing to construct, alter or move any fence shall submit a completed fence permit application for approval before any construction begins. Necessary maintenance, such as staining, replacing pickets or hardware, do not require a fence permit as long as the type, height and location of the fence is not changed in any manner.

Sign Permit Application- Any persons, authorized agent or business wishing to erect, install or place any banner or sign in the Town of Firestone must first apply for and obtain a sign permit from the building department.

There are no impact fees for commercial development.
